Five transfers to rumble on all summer long
Coronavirus might have things locked down at the moment but don’t be fooled. Clubs will still be working on ways they can land their targets when the transfer window opens. Today our team look at five players who could feature in the speculation all summer long. You know what that means? Football Index media buzz wins.
Number 5. Kalidou Koulibaly, £1.46
Napoli’s man mountain centre half Koulibaly has been a long time target of Manchester United. It seems inevitable that the Senegalese international will move on at some point – why not the summer? It’s going to take a fee in the region of £80m but there will be plenty of takers. United might have moved on from Koulibaly now – with Matthijs de Ligt on their target list – but their rivals, Man City and Tottenham, are in desperate need of a dominant defender whilst Real Madrid and PSG are on the lookout too.
Number 4. Erling Braut Haaland, £6.01
Haaland only arrived in Germany in January but the combination of a blistering start and a £50m release clause will be music to the ears of the elite all over the continent. Real Madrid are the favourites to sign the Borussia Dortmund forward but it will probably rumble on for a while with numerous clubs – such as Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester United – likely to join the race for his signature when the first tables the crucial £50m bid.
Number 3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, £2.10
At the moment, Aubameyang looks a level above his teammates at the Emirates. With 61 goals in 91 games since joining Arsenal it’s no wonder he’s being linked with clubs competing in the Champions League. Barcelona are leading the race at the moment but with Real Madrid interested in Liverpool’s Sadio Mane it’s conceivable that Jurgen Klopp turns to Aubameyang to fill the void in his lethal attacking trio. What a turn up for the Football Index media buzz that would be! One thing is for sure though, Aubameyang is too good to go without European football for a year so a move away seems like a matter of time.
Number 2. Jadon Sancho, £12.33
It’s hard to remember the last time an English player had such hype and expectation placed on them. Sancho is dealing with the pressure well though whilst playing for a decent club in Dortmund. He’s a shoo-in for Gareth Southgate’s England squad and at 19 years old his price is naturally going to increase over the next few years. The growing links to Manchester United could see it hike sooner rather than later too. If you look at how long United took to get the Bruno Fernandes – who we suggest you avoid on the index – deal over the line, it could be weeks upon weeks of Football Index media buzz pay outs.
Number 1. Phillippe Coutinho, £3.05
Coutinho whipped up a storm on the index prior to his eye-watering move to Barcelona back in 2018. The move to the Catalan giants hasn’t really worked out. The Brazilian playmaker is currently on loan with Bayern Munich scoring eight and created six goals in 22 appearances. He looks set to be available permanently come the summer window. All the clubs rumoured to be in for the former Liverpool man are English. Man United and Arsenal are both linked. To us, they seem like less likely destinations though with a three-way chase emerging between Chelsea, Leicester and Tottenham.
