Five Bundesliga stars set for a move
One of the biggest drivers of price in the market is transfers. Here we look at five of the best Bundesliga players to buy with each of them set to move on to pastures new in the coming months. To keep things interesting, we’ve deliberately not included Erling Braut Haaland – who you can read about here – or Jadon Sancho in this set of Football Index tips.
Number 5. Milot Rashica, £2.37
Kosovan international wide man Rashica has been mentioned in connection with some of Europe’s biggest clubs but a ‘stepping stone’ type move might be more likely. West Ham and Wolves are possible destinations. He’s only 23 and has been a key player for Werder Bremen since joining from Eredivisie side Vitesse with 17 goals and nine assists in 55 appearances. On top of that he’s won three game day dividend payouts. The fact Kosovo could yet make the Euros is another bonus in Rashica’s favour.
Number 4. Leon Bailey, £1.92
Bailey is the stereotypical winger of a decade ago. He has pace to burn, a boat load of tricks up his sleeve meaning he can beat defenders with ease and end product. Injury and suspension have seen him sit out of a fair few games this season but five goals and an assist in 14 games isn’t a bad return. At 22 he’ll only get better too but even now he’s hot property and has been linked to the Premier League with Arsenal and Chelsea keeping tabs.
Number 3. Achraf Hakimi, £2.58
Okay, so Hakimi technically belongs to Real Madrid. It’s his performances in Germany that have caught the eye though which is why he’s included here. Hakimi has really kicked on in his second year at Dortmund. He’s posted an average PB of 148 and has built up a frightening relationship with Sancho down the right flank. The full back chips in offensively too with 10 assists and scoring seven times – four in the Champions League – in 37 appearances. Dortmund want to extend his loan (obviously) whilst English sides are being linked. Surely though, Zinedine Zidane should be giving him a starting berth at the Bernabeu from next season?
Number 2. Dayot Upamecano, £2.24
It might be a shorter list to say who hasn’t been linked with a move for RB Leipzig centre back Upamecano but, whatever way you cut it, he looks set for a big money move. Upamecano is only 21 and isn’t the strongest but what he lacks in physical strength he more than makes up for with excellent anticipation, which has developed over his fledgling career having made more than 100 senior appearances – including 15 France caps – already. He loves to build from the back too, which we all know if a ‘must have’ in today’s game. He’ll have his pick of clubs when the transfer window opens.
Number 1. Timo Werner, £5.53
That’s right, it’s another Leipzig player. Werner is definitely one of the best Bundesliga players. He has a bit of everything in his locker. He is blisteringly quick without the ball, which puts teams at risk who play a high line but the pace doesn’t disappear when he has possession so when teams drop off they give him the chance to run at them. That doesn’t usually end well either. He’s knows what to do in the danger zone too though and finds the net on a consistent basis with 27 goals in 36 games this season – plus he has a further 12 assists to his name.
It’s no surprise to see him linked with pretty much every major club in Europe. Liverpool could be a good fit – particularly if Sadio Mane leaves for Real Madrid. It’s worth noting that Werner hasn’t played for a club outside Germany as yet and the 24 year old going to Bayern Munich isn’t out of the question. Wherever he ends up, we’d hazard a guess that he’ll add to his current haul of 13 buzz wins – 11 game day and two media.
